Regarding the project.

Sorry I haven't been making much progress lately. The project kind of stagnated, and I'm still not entirely sure what my Capstone will be in the end.
So in lieu of a regular update, I'm just going to give you guys a review for what's coming up in the next few days of school.

3/1: HWF circulatory system test
Science test

3/2: Spanish chapter 5 test
Chinese test
R/W tone test

3/6: Spanish projects due
Choose your element

This always happens at the end of a semester--there's this sudden rush to complete everything before the grades go through. Don't worry, though. After this we get more than a week to relax!

I think I'm changing my capstone to

learning a language, probably Italian.

How does that sound to you? Are there any ways I could improve that plan?

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

I might be changing my project.

I'm not sure what I'd be changing my project to, though. My current ideas have to do with writing. Music, and programming. I have a couple of plans, but I'm not sure where they're actually going. I'll update this blog if and when I decide.

Coursework is postponed?

COURSEWORK UPDATE on the history blog. Apparently you have more time to work on that coursework, if you haven't finished it already! I am personally okay with this.
However, we're working on it in R/W tomorrow...take that as you will.

So we can't use our iPads during lunch anymore...

It's more relevant now than ever: prioritize different assignments.
It's always good to get your homework done ahead of time. Try not to procrastinate, and do your homework when you have the time. But when you don't have the time, you can give priority to some assignments. Do the ones due tomorrow before the ones due in two days, and now make sure to work on the online stuff when you're actually allowed on the Internet.

So we have a couple of long assignments coming due soon...just a public service announcement!

  • History: Coursework packet, due tomorrow.
  • W.L.: Nonfiction reading assignment, due January 27 for us and 30 for Gold.

This is outside of what I'd normally post on this blog, and I'm not sure it's my place to say, but sometimes people need a reminder. I honestly forgot about the nonfiction over the weekend, even when it was in my planner.

Three Brief Study Tips

  • When you sit down to study, try to eliminate distractions from the area. If you know you'll watch TV when it's running in the background, turn it off.
  • Try to highlight the most important points. Know whether your teacher expects you to know numbers like the exact date or just to know what happened and why.
  • Don't just study the night before the quiz. If you try to sit down and study for three hours, generally you'll start skimming and you won't remember the information as well. You can spread it out!

The First Post

Hello! I'm Karina and this is my ninth grade Capstone project here at ASU Prep. For it, I hope to be a helpful tutor. I'll be open for tutoring every day at lunch and Fridays after school. This blog is where I will post what I've learned and how to apply those skills to school. Study tips, information, and the like. Thank you!
